As a traveler, mother, yoga instructor, and nurse, Jillian brings a wealth of experience to her practices in pain management. She grew up in Newport, Oregon – a city defined by the natural beauty of both mountain peaks and ocean shores. She moved to Boise in 2009, where she attended Boise State University and earned a double major in nursing and Spanish. As part of her studies, she spent a year abroad in Santiago, Chile, and used this time to travel across South America while learning the Spanish language.
After earning her undergraduate degree, Ms. Vaughan went on to receive her master’s as a family nurse practitioner. She worked for four years on the neuroscience unit at Saint Alphonsus while studying at Northwest Nazarene University. On the neuroscience unit, she cared for many patients with traumatic injuries and chronic pain. It was here that she developed her interest in pain management. Upon graduating the master’s program, she began her career as a nurse practitioner working in women’s health and research.
In her free time, Ms. Vaughan’s primary focus is her family. She spends much of her time with her 3-year-old son. She is also passionate about the practice of yoga, and has been teaching as a yoga instructor for the past three years. She values the many benefits that yoga brings to both body and mind. Jillian loves to travel, and has returned to South and Central America many times to explore new countries and continue her study of the Spanish language. She has additionally spent time traveling through Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa. These experiences have informed her approach to pain management.
Jillian’s philosophy when it comes to practicing pain management is to adopt a holistic perspective of health. Through the many roads she’s ventured in life, she’s arrived at the conviction that quality care comes from addressing the mind, body and spirit as a whole. It is through this integrative lens that she explores the best possible outcomes for her patients, harmonizing the broader goals of their lives with her specific medical expertise. This encompassing approach to healthcare makes her a perceptive and capable nurse practitioner, and a valuable member of the Pain Care Boise team.
