Minimally Invasive Spine Treatments OLD

Pain Care Boise offers presently the following Minimally Invasive Spine Treatments (MIST’s). For patients with sciatica (low back pain and leg pain) due to a Herniated or Bulging disc, we recommend the Nucleoplasty, enSpire, dekompressor procedures to reduce the disc. For patients with primarily low back pain due to Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD), we recommend IDET (IntraDiscal ElectroThermal) repair.

These procedures are done percutaneously (through a needle). With this, you avoid an open invasive surgery; you avoid a general anesthetic; and you avoid a hospital stay. These procedures are done with local anesthesia only or with light sedation right here at Pain Care Boise in our state-of-the-art AAAHC and Medicare certified outpatient ambulatory surgery center. You go home with only a band-aid on your back.

(Remember, with these MIST’s, if you do not see benefit for your pain problem, you can still consider the more invasive open spine procedure. However, once you have had an open invasive spine surgery, these MIST procedures are not then typically still an option for you.)
